Automatic counters allowed Victoria's downtown managers to compare visitation from one year to the next. The data from the Eco-Counters made it possible to develop long-term trends, to provide comparisons of attendance before and after planning projects, and to predict future demand.

The data collected from the pedestrian counters were also valuable in making the case for a nearby streetcar station.

Halifax business improvement districts were able to get accurate attendance statistics using a fleet of portable pedestrian counters. The data from the Eco-Counters was shared with stakeholders and retailers. A number of the retailers were able to determine a relationship between their revenue and visitation during specific periods of time.
Attendance figures can be shared between organizations to develop simple benchmarking tools. Reliable data also enables city-center managers to better understand and communicate the value of events and city improvement projects.
