Justifying a controversial pilot project

The data collected by the Easy ZELT system demonstrated the success of a road conversion on one of Vancouver’s most important arterials. Since the addition of the bike lane in the pilot project, the City saw a 24% increase in bike trips, year-on-year, while the vehicular traffic volume remained constant. The City was able to use this data to communicate the results of the lane conversion to the public.

Following the trial, the new cycling infrastructure became permanent, replacing the former roadway.
